    Roblox Game Creator: Advanced LUA Coding and Game Scripts

    Roblox is the worlds most popular game creation platform. Game Creators regularly earn more than $1 million a year by creating and publishing games. This course is for students who want to take their game development skills to another level by designing 3D worlds and then using LUA - a powerful and popular programming language - to create advanced game mechanics and custom items. You can use your creations either for your own game or to sell on the marketplace. You'll learn LUA programming through a series of exciting games. This is a live virtual course that is taught by successful Roblox game developers based in the UK. Our tutors are passionate about teaching and they have taught hundreds of hours of Roblox course content to students all over the world. Our staff have enhanced DBS checks and Safeguarding Training.

    Pre-requisites:

    - Attended a Roblox Level 2 (we accept Students who have only completed Roblox Level 1 but please contact us to discuss suitability) - Age requirement: 10+ - Comfortable using computers and typing

    Hardware and software requirements:

    - PC or Mac with Roblox Studio (note iPads/Android or ChromeBooks will not work) - Windows 10 or higher / Mac OS version 10.20 or higher - Minimum system RAM of 8GB - Minimal storage capacity of 1GB or higher

    What you will learn:

    - Practice programming fundamentals with Lua - Use programming logic to create gameplay mechanics and design 3D worlds - Learn how to make stand-alone scripts for anyone to use - Setting up custom servers - Use of Roblox physics - provides transferable skills to other KS3 subjects (Science, Maths).

    Example game projects covered in this course:

    - Simulator games, for example pet simulator games - Advanced Obby games such as Red Light Green Light and Glass Bridge Jumps - Custom NPCs and modding them - Custom items (Lots of flexibility: Tutors will ask the class for their preferred game genres and will develop the course content around this)

    Learn to code using your favourite gaming platform and develop fun Roblox games. Roblox is the most popular game creation platform in the world. Successful games and models have the potential to generate millions of Robux for creators all across the planet and any age. This autumn Term Course is a great next step up from fundamental programming concepts and the Lua programming language. Lua is widely used as a scripting language by game developers across the world. Children will study the game design mechanics of the most popular games and will learn how to create monetisation strategies that can be applied in their own games. By the end of the course, the students will be comfortable programming and creating Roblox games and will have published at least one game on to Roblox, which could end up helping them make lots of Robux!
    • Learn advanced game design concepts
    • Use LUA programming scripts to create custom behaviours and game interactions
    • Create NPC animations (for example 'Rag Doll' behaviours)
    • Use powerful 3D model creation tools such as Blender and Maya to create amazing 3D meshes and custom models
    • Strategies to monetise such as creating game passes
    • Use all of the above to make super cool games

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: A computer with a web browser. You will need to have the following free software installed: Age Requirement: 10+ Experience: Completed a Beginner Level Roblox course, or you must be comfortable with Roblox Studio and will have prior experience of designing and publishing simple games. Hardware: Windows 10 PC minimum 4GB RAM, or MacOS version 10.13 or higher and minimum 4RAM. Either a wired or a wireless mouse is recommended.

    Scratch Coding, Autumn Term

    Scratch is the world's most popular programming language for primary school children. Scratch's visual coding blocks makes it particularly useful to learn coding concepts and computational thinking. More experienced children can also benefit from Scratch as we will cover more advanced aspects of the language. In this course, children will be learn to create stories; bring animations to life; code musical instruments; design exciting games; and control robots such as Lego EV3 or Sphero.

    This class runs like an after school club. There is a class once a week every week at the same time. Scratch sessions last an hour.

    Our Game design and coding course teaches you how to think like a professional game creator. Children learn to create arcade-style 2-D games that they can then publish and play on a computer or any other mobile device, including a mini-console. We also cover techniques such as graphic design, adding game behaviours, creating game maps, and using asset packs.
