The Cyber Security course is designed for late primary to secondary aged students who are curious about how the internet really works and want to learn how to stay safe online — by learning to think like both a hacker and a defender.

Students will explore the world of cyber security through hands-on, practical activities using a custom-built vulnerable website (the Code Kids Candy Shop) as their own personal hacking playground. They'll poke around in browser developer tools, hunt for hidden secrets, crack weak passwords, spot phishing scams, and even run a friendly Capture the Flag competition on the final day. Cyber security is one of the fastest-growing fields in tech, and the skills students pick up here are the same foundations used by professional security researchers at companies like Google, Microsoft and the National Cyber Security Centre.

This camp is a great introduction to how websites and the internet work under the hood, what makes them vulnerable, and how to defend against the most common online threats. Ethical thinking is woven through every session — students learn that these skills come with responsibility, and that the best hackers use their powers for good. After this course, students will have a solid grasp of core cyber security concepts and the confidence to stay safer online.

Understand how the internet and websites work under the hood
Use browser developer tools to inspect and analyse web pages
Recognise common web vulnerabilities (XSS, broken access control, weak passwords)
Build strong passwords and spot phishing and social engineering attacks
Explore how AI is used in both cyber-attacks and defence
Take part in a team Capture the Flag competition on the final day

The Python course is designed for late primary to secondary aged students who are looking to learn to code using a proper “grown-up” programming language. Students will learn to code in Python and create fun games and useful applications. Python is particularly suitable for this age group because it is concise, easy to read and has multiple applications in the real world (web development, app development and other scientific uses such as data science). It is the most popular programming language in the world and is widely used by all the leading tech companies such as Google, Amazon and Facebook. This class is a great introduction to both fundamental coding concepts and the Python programming language. After this course, students will be comfortable coding in Python and have the confidence to extend their knowledge at home.
    • Learn Python syntax (structure)
    • Use loops and conditionals (IF/THEN/ELSE)
    • Understand variables (number, Boolean, string)
    • Create and use functions
    • Use all of the above to make games and robot chat bot applications
